ABONG Wooden Gear Wall Clock Kit

We started our journey by creating a set of trebuchet kits on a whim as an activity for our child's birthday party. To our surprise, when parents began asking where they could purchase one, we made a dozen more, then another dozen, and soon ramped up to a thousand. Fifteen years later, we now manufacture over thirty different wooden model kits in our factory.

What sets our products apart is that we are a family-owned and operated business. Every product begins with our own desire to learn, and goes through countless test builds, revisions, and extensive instruction writing and rewriting before reaching the market.

One of our flagship products is the Simplified Three Gear Train clock kit. By minimizing the number of gears, this clock is straightforward to build and tune, yet retains all the features of a genuine pendulum wooden gear clock. In fact, you can construct a fully functioning clock in a single weekend!

The heart of this clock is the precision pallet and escape gear mechanism, which provides the iconic "tic-toc" heartbeat, just as quality timepieces have used for centuries. The hour hand is linked to the minute wheel through a 60:1 dial train, allowing the open-frame mechanical clock to proudly display all its working components.

Notably, this clock requires no batteries, as it is driven by a weight that slowly lowers to the ground. A ratchet and pawl spool system makes rewinding the clock a simple task, allowing it to run for over twelve hours on a single wind.

The kit comes with digital assembly instructions, delivering a clear illustration and well-written text for each step, ensuring a successful build. These instructions are always up-to-date, incorporating the latest edits and tips. By going digital, we are able to reduce costs and pass those savings on to our customers, while also eliminating the need to dispose of a physical instruction booklet.

The parts for this kit are carefully designed and precision-cut to fit together seamlessly into a working gear clock. The assembly process has been simplified wherever possible to provide the best chance for success, even for first-time clock builders. The kit includes premium components like accurate, low-friction carbon fiber axles and high-strength braided dacron to ensure the clock's longevity.

We are proud to design, prototype, and manufacture all our kits at our own factory near Toronto, Canada, using locally sourced, sustainable wood products. This not only allows us to maintain quality control, but also supports our local community.
